From Thembi Mdluli:
“Third Quarter forHenna Pre-School and New Beginnings Day Care is always full of fun, friendships, learning, adventure and new ideas.
At the end of the second quarter, we decided that collaborative problem-solving requires that parents, educators, specialists and administrators all work together. The aim is to determine appropriate resources and support as well as specific information-sharing practices that facilitate parental engagement. Although it was initially difficult to engage with parents, through a bit of clever planning and flexibility, they have become helpful in the observation of their children and implementing effective teaching practices. This new strategy has also benefitted the community a great deal, as the enrolment at the Adult Based Education Training has improved dramatically. This is due to the fact that the community is now taking education as its first priority.
My sincere appreciation goes to the Singita Private Game Reserve READ programme, and the Department of Social Development.”
