Mr. South Africa spends time with More Community Trust

“The soul is healed by being with children.” – Armand du Plessis, Mr South Africa 2016.

We hosted Mr South Africa 2016, Armand du Plessis, for a day as he visited three of our projects. Armand spent time with Regional Manager, Thembi Mduli, and she showed him the work we have done at Henna Pre-School, New Beginnings Day Care and the Digital Learning Centre. The aim of Armand’s visit was not only to experience the work we do first hand, but to raise awareness for the projects among his fans (in the hope of bringing in some much needed funding).

Says Thembi; “We had a wonderful day with Armand! At Henna I showed him all that we have achieved and he spent time interacting with the children. We then went to the Digital Learning Centre and Armand enthusiastically assisted with the building project. The tour concluded with a visit to the babies at New Beginnings, where Armand left his hand print (literally!). His passion for the people of South Africa is obvious, and we hope that together we can make a difference to the community”.

We asked Armand for his account of the day;

“I have heard and witnessed some incredibly inspiring stories before, but THIS one tops all of them…

I recently spent a day with the More Community Trust in the local community. Projects undertaken are all self-sustainable, as their belief is that by enriching communities to contribute their own effort and skill, projects are kept alive into the future. Each member of the community has a role to play, and in so doing inspires a secured pride, responsibility, accountability and happiness in community members.

Leadership of the More Community Trust include representatives from the community, an independent financial adviser and a More family representative.

Thank You Andrew Danckwerts for capturing these special moments of my visit to the Henna Pre School, the local primary school and the New Beginnings Centre.”
