It is definitely hard to believe that our first quarter has concluded, and we are well on our way to the holiday season. There has been so many exciting things that occurred during this past 3 months period, from our Parents as teachers initiative to parental involvement events and much more. Preschool begins the educational journey for students and sets the groundwork for future academic endeavours.
Our program has been working diligently to complete our baseline student assessment screening and analyse our data to provide pacing appropriate for early childhood development, but also one that emphasises our focus on school readiness. This was achieved through our partnership with READ Educational Trust which is a South African based NGO that operates in the education and literacy sector. READ continually assesses what constitutes being literate in a fast-changing world, and is aware that simply producing more of the same knowledge and skills will not be enough to address the challenges of the future.
A HUGE thank you to all our friends and guests who visited Henna and New Beginnings during the past few month. It is always heart-warming to see our visitors interact with the children, and very important, your contribution always goes a long way. For example: Felicity Lyon recently stayed at Lion Sands River Lodge and included amongst their donation to Henna and New Beginnings was a Discovery Learning Corner in a form of vegetable planting.
