National Manager of MORE Community Trust, Michelle Scott: “There is nothing that inspires me more than fellow humans taking the initiative to help without being prompted. Our Madikwe Safari Lodge people, who make up the Kgatelopele Community Service team, wanted to give back to their community of Obakeng in the North West, and so created their own initiative to empower their people.
This week, I was privileged to join the team on one of their trips to Obakeng, visiting schools, clinics and homes, and meeting some truly inspiring people. One of Kgatelopele’s many initiatives is handing over food parcels to the underprivileged. This gave us the opportunity to connect with some exceptionally strong women and men who, despite the hardships they face, continue to provide for their families. This was a truly rewarding outing, and a wonderful way to experience the rich culture of Obakeng!
A huge thanks to the Bopa Monyetla community development organisation, too for their huge donation of books, and sports equipment and kits, which filled an entire delivery truck! The donation was distributed to the greater Madikwe community through Kgatelopele, helping to better many young lives.
Watch this space… In partnership with Madikwe Safari Lodge and Bopa Monyetla, we have some exciting education and women’s upliftment projects in the pipeline!”
