MORE Community Trust – About Us
MORE Community Trust’s purpose is to give long-term, meaningful assistance to the communities in which MORE’s lodges, hotels and support office operate, and to empower local people in a sustainable way.
Who We Are
More Community Trust* (MCT) is MORE’s corporate social investment organisation. Development projects undertaken are all self-sustainable, as it is our belief that by empowering communities to contribute their own efforts and skills, projects are kept alive into the future. Everyone has a role to play, which inspires pride, a sense of security, and ultimately greater happiness in each member of the community.
Leadership of MCT includes community representatives, a More family representative, and independent advisors. The majority of the trust’s operational costs are covered by the family and their MORE companies, with only 7.5% of donor funds used for this purpose. This means that 92.5% of all donations are channelled into approved beneficiary projects.

Our Core Pillars
MCT’s purpose is to give long-term, meaningful assistance to the communities in which MORE’s lodges, hotels and support office operate, and to empower local people in a sustainable way.
We fulfil our purpose by connecting individuals and businesses to these communities through development projects and professional partnerships that are based on our four core pillars:
Get Your Hands Dirty
To keep our community development projects going, MCT welcomes hands on help from visitors. Our Get Your Hands Dirty initiative invites them to roll up their sleeves and help out with tasks that address local needs around education, health and environment, and infrastructure. These extraordinary social experiences bring visitors into the heart of Southern Africa to connect with local people and make their visit here that much more meaningful.
Over the years, MCT has built close relationships with our local communities and we have created an enriching community tour in all of MCT’s regions. Visitors are welcomed in to gain insight into real village or township life by learning about their histories, visiting MCT development projects (including schools to spend time with the children), and experiencing traditional Southern Africa (with an option to meet a sangoma – traditional healer or village leader – being a highlight). The proceeds generated by these tours go directly to benefiting the residents through MCT’s community initiatives.
Please note that Community Tours:
- Are by special arrangement and dependant on availability
- Incur an additional cost, dependant on itinerary and transfers
Pack For A Purpose
For guests of all MORE lodges and hotels
Through MCT, all of MORE’s lodges and hotels are affiliated with Pack For A Purpose. This global initiative encourages travellers to bring with them much-needed supplies for MCT’s community development projects supported by the MORE properties they will be staying at.
Each of the MORE lodges and hotels are listed on packforapurpose.org along with its associated project/s and their list of needs, including school, sports, clothing, home, and medical supplies. Guests may come for a brief stay, but when they Pack For A Purpose, their visit makes a lasting difference to the communities in which MORE operates.
The Extra Mile Run
Huntington Village – on the fringe of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and part of the greater Bushbuckridge area – represents one of the most impoverished communities in South Africa.
The Extra Mile Trail Run was conceptualised to raise funds in support of this community. Sponsored by Investec Rhino Lifeline, runners and walkers (both professional and amateur) are invited to participate.
